Materials and dimension tolerance

C & S casting materials reference:
A wide range of ferrous metals can be selected. Produced to specifications and standards according to the ASTM, DIN, JIS,etc.
If you have a specific alloys of which does not appear below, please let us know, we shall meet your needs.

Alloy category Examples
Stainless steels 3xx Austenitic, 4xx series hardenable, Duplex stainless, etc.
Carbon steels 10xx series, 11xx series, 12xx series, 15xx series,
High alloy steel 13xx through 97xx series
Tool steels W series, S series, O series, A series, D series, H series.
Nickel based alloy Hastalloys, Monel, Inconels.

Casting dimension tolerance reference
Castings will not be perfect as the tooling have tolerances and the wax pattern have tolerances, however, they can be predicted. Some typical lost wax casting dimensional tolerances are described as follows .

Casting dimension General tolerance Specific tolerance
2-10mm +/-0.25mm +/-0.14mm
10-25mm +/-0.3mm +/-0.25mm
25-50mm +/-0.4mm +/-0.32mm
50-75mm +/-0.6mm +/-0.5mm
75-100mm +/-0.8mm +/-0.7mm
100-125mm +/-1.1mm +/-0.9mm
125-150mm +/-1.4mm +/-1.1mm
150-175mm +/-1.7mm +/-1.3mm
175-200mm +/-2.0mm +/-1.5mm
200-250mm +/-2.5mm +/-1.8mm

Surface roughness:
Typical surface roughness is 125rms-250rms.

Concentricity and roundness:
Out of round is the radial difference between a true circle and the cast surface diameter,
Hole diameter deviation
Up to 12mm +/- 0.08mm
25mm +/- 0.13mm

Parallelism:
parallelism is relative planar measurement with respect to a datum plane, nominal difference is 0.25mm per 25mm dia. plane.

Radius:
Please try to avoid sharp edges, r=1mm is nominal for the CAM tooling.
